Fixing 'Printer Offline' Status in Windows

Restore communication when your HP printer stops responding and displays an Offline state on your PC.

Important: The instructions below apply to standard HP (Hewlett-Packard) series printers. Always disconnect power cables before reaching inside internal paper paths or hardware assemblies.

Recommended Resolution Steps

  1. 1

Verify that your printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network or USB port as your computer.

  2. 2

Open Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, select your HP model, and click 'Open print queue'.

  3. 3

Under the 'Printer' dropdown menu, make sure 'Use Printer Offline' and 'Pause Printing' are both unchecked.

  4. 4

Open Windows Services (services.msc), locate 'Print Spooler', right-click it, and choose 'Restart'.

  5. 5

Reserve a dedicated static IP address for the printer in your router settings and add it via a Standard TCP/IP Port.
