Important: The instructions below apply to standard Epson series printers. Always disconnect power cables before reaching inside internal paper paths or hardware assemblies.
Recommended Resolution Steps
- 1
Cancel any active print jobs from your computer and disconnect all USB or Ethernet cables from the printer.
- 2
Unplug the AC power cord and remove all ink cartridges from the carriage.
- 3
Hold down the physical Power button on the printer for 60 full seconds to discharge residual capacitor power.
- 4
Plug the power cord directly into a wall socket (bypassing surge protectors), reinstall the cartridges, and turn the unit on.
- 5
If Error 0x97 reappears immediately on startup, internal printhead electronics require professional servicing.
