Troubleshooting Error B200 (Printhead Voltage Alert)

How to handle a critical printhead temperature or voltage irregularity on Canon PIXMA printers.

Important: The instructions below apply to standard Canon series printers. Always disconnect power cables before reaching inside internal paper paths or hardware assemblies.

Recommended Resolution Steps

  1. 1

Power off the printer and disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet for at least 10 minutes to let the printhead cool.

  2. 2

Open the top access cover and gently move the cartridge cradle toward the center replacement position.

  3. 3

Take out all ink tanks and unlatch the removable printhead assembly.

  4. 4

Dampen a lint-free microfiber cloth with a drop of isopropyl alcohol and lightly wipe the gold contact pins on the printhead.

  5. 5

Allow the contacts to dry completely, lock the printhead and cartridges back in place, and power the unit on.
